Nearly one out of every five children in Uganda is uneducated. The problem is particularly serious among children living in rural areas.
Unlike this country, there is very little state provided education in Uganda. Paying school fees is beyond many families, especially when they have a lot of children. This means that many children are left at home helping with chores, or sometimes made to work whilst hoping their relatives to try to scrape together enough money to send them back to school. However, matters are made worse by the fact that all schools have many extra school requirements that relatives have to pay for on top of school fees. From their own wash basin to school books and uniform and shoes, each child must turn up at the gates with everything asked of them, or else risk being sent back home.
It is an impossible task for many children and their families to fund an education and a lot of children only manage to pay part of their fees. However hard a child has worked and regardless of their academic performance, if they can’t pay their fees in full they are not given their school reports or exam certificates. Their whole year of learning is effectively made worthless. Consequently, many children end up changing schools every term, building up debts wherever they go as they simply can’t afford to pay them.
Thanks to our sponsors, our children at Isaac’s House appreciate that they are in an extremely fortunate position to have a full education and they want to give something back. Our children and staff have decided to help the children in the local community whose relatives cannot afford an education by offering tuition to help with basic skills.

Often these children turn up hungry. In some extreme circumstances, their relatives cannot afford to feed them every single day. Often they only eat once a day which is usually in the evenings.
Some children are too faint to take anything in, therefore our staff now provide a full meal to all children who wish to come to Isaac’s House to learn.
We now have nine children coming to the house four days per week, meaning that we are preparing 150 extra plates of food to each month.
To continue the great work started by our own children, we need more support and we ask for your help.
A donation of just £5 would fund a child’s meals for a month, allowing them to make the most of the tuition our children and staff are providing. This help now can really make a difference to the life of these children.

Every child has a right to learn and we see at first hand the difference that a good education makes to our own children. We would like to do everything we can to help make this happen for as many children as we can support.
